A friend of mine, went on vacation to Belize last year. During the trip he went tramping through the jungle, and during a slip and fall in the mud, he grabbed a long vine which contained lots of thorns on it.
The thorns cut into his hand, causing him to lose a lot of blood. A fungus entered his skin through the cuts on his hand, eventually the infection got worse and developed into a skin condition called "Chromomycosis" - pronounced (chromo-my-kosis).
This "Chromomycosis" fungus, is also know as "Chromoblastomycosis" and several other names such as "Fonseca's disease,"Pedroso's disease," or "Phaeosporotrichosis.
